In 1999, Thea Green left her magazine career and set about launching nailsinc. The nail bars in London hot spots with a vision to....
'Offer a variety of speedy, affordable, professional manicure & pedicure services and products to the modern British woman for the first time.' And quite frankly, thank God she did. If ever there was a speedy way to slicken us up before a last minute night out, a trip to nailsinc is it. If you're lucky, some of the bars even have sex and the city playing on loop (the VIP team are regulars at our local South Molton St branch).
Ten years on and 61 sites later there's now sites at House of Fraser, Debenhams, John Lewis, Brown Thomas and Harvey Nichols - you absolutely must try the champagne bar concept here - talking about feeling like Carrie Bradshaw!
From their trademark 15 minute manicure (there's always time for a quick pamper, girls) to the brilliant 'everlasting manicure' (the complete nail revelation that lasts for up to 3 weeks) nailsinc is just the place you'd go before anywhere else for a really brilliant mani or pedi. But for founder Thea, fashion & colour are a seriously important part of the brand too - who do you think pushed us into that neon nail trend? During London Fashion Week, she even created bespoke nail colours for designers such as Issa, Luella, Gareth Pugh and, PPQ. The VIP team are loving the concept of wearing crazy bright polish to brighten up a plain outfit ('The Stand' is a quirky but wearable bright pink), but we have to tell you that 'South Molton St' is the best, most flattering, go-with-any-damn-thing-you-throw-on shade of shell pink you will find on the high street. Ever.
We managed to grab Thea and ask her for her top nail tips:
1. Buff nails once a week. This will give you a smooth and shiny finish. This will also help adhere the nail polish to your nail
2. Oil, oil and more Oil! Use nails inc's vitamin e oil pen every day to hydrate and nourish nails. This will banish any hang nails or rough skin and will also encourage nail growth.
3. Store your nail polishes in a cool place - you can even try putting these in the fridge!
4. Always use a top coat and base coat when painting your nails. We recommend nails inc caviar range - the top coat dries nails in just 45 seconds and leaves them looking ultra glossy.
5. Use a glass file rather than a regular emery board. These last forever - simply run under hot water to renew. Also the glass is must gentler on your nail and will prevent breakages and rough edges.
